We've come a long way since buying this 132-acre property, now known as Better in Belize EcoVillage, in 2008!
Three years elapsed before we gained final approval from the Government of Belize to start sellingour 128 lots, comprised of ridge view, waterfront, Mayan Circle, rainforest, commercial, and multi-unit lots.
During that three-year span, we mapped out and built the approximately 4 1/2 miles of roads that weave through our Belize ecovillage. Those roads now lead to a diverse selection of architecturally unique homes including earthbag homes, wattle and daub home, bean bale home, dome home, concrete homes, raised-stilt construction homes, wooden homes, tiny casitas,and modern homes.

Our road map to green living in Belize just got better!
The roads at Better in Belize have just been resurfaced. Under contract with Big Boyz Trucking and Backhoe Services, our roads were resurfaced with limestone marl quarried from a cliffside close to our entrance, with the roads being carefully shaped to facilitate water run-off. Additionally, our Property Manager and Better in Belize builder, Jorge Rosales, was contracted to build concrete road gutters along the Forest Hill Drive curve to route the rainwater off the road and down the hillside. The big hill along Riverview Drive has also had extensive work. Looking to the future, the HOA is implementing a road maintenance program. One of our owners, formerly a building contractor, is steering this initiative as Better in Belize Road Manager. Raise the roof!
Currently, there are 25 homes that have been built and 6 homes that are under construction at our Belize eco-village, with further houses in the construction planning phase. Eight homeowners/families currently live at Better in Belize full-time with a revolving door of owners who visit during the winter months, for extended periods or vacation, or to oversee their home construction.

We’re not just a pretty ecovillage!
We’re not just a pretty ecovillage...........we’re a community of caring homeowners too! As good neighbors, we’ve set up a school scholarship for kids whose families live in our neck-of-the-woods.
Donations cover tuition, uniforms, school supplies, and fees. One of our owners has set up a Student Center in her spare room to accommodate after-school programs for neighborhood kids to access the Internet and do their homework.
Our community garden has been taken over by a Garden Manager - one of our full-time owners - who is busy overhauling the garden (weeding, pruning, getting vegetable plots into shape) along with the HOA workers.
